Amateur homemade lobster traps enjoy a pleasant

Making a homemade lobster trap may sound difficult, but it really can be done. Using materials you can purchase at a local hardware store and tools around the house, you can build your own lobster trap and even have enough time to catch your own evening dinner.
Building the Box
· Build a rectangular shaped box out of elbows and PVC pipe.
Grab your drill and make drain holes in the pipe along the sides and in the corners. Along the top of the pipes, drill holes for eye bolts.
Adding the Top and Sides
· Take chicken wire and wrap it around the bottom, top and sides of the rectangular box. Twist galvanized wire around the chicken wire to secure it in place.
With a square piece of chicken wire, cover one end of the box. Zip tie it down at the top. Do not zip tie the bottom, as you have created the hinge where you will open to trap to put in bate and will secure it once you have done that.
The Trap Door
· Bend and shape chicken wire to make a funnel for the opposite end of your box. The trap's exit should be the middle of the trap, while the entrance will be at the bottom of the trap.
Attach the holes with galvanized wire, making sure the holes are large enough for lobsters to get in.
Connecting the Eye Bolts
· Now, connect your eye bolts to the trap. With two lengths of rope, create a loop in the middle and on all four ends of the traps inside the bolts.
With the leftover rope, make a loop at one end and attach a carabineer to the loop. The carabineer will help attach the eyebolts to the middle loops.
Setting the Trap
· Zip tie or attach bait in a mesh bag to the bottom of the trap.
Throw your trap into the water after attaching the rope. Use a buoy or tie down your trap to something secure.
Catching Dinner
· Let the trap be for a couple hours. After a few hours, pull the trap out of the water and see if you have caught any lobsters.
