How to Trap a Lobster
Data:2015/1/5
Lobster trapping is a very old profession, and the non-commercial practice of it has not altered much. Maine is the heart of the lobster-fishing industry, and it's there that much testing and gathering of data has been focused. There is something attractive in the idea of the old lobsterman sailing out to check the traps and hauling in the day's catch. It's still done this way today.
1.Get a license to trap lobsters. Find out what the limits are and the rules regarding the catching of lobsters. You must have the correct traps, which allow the lobsters to escape if not hauled in within the proper amount of time. There are also biodegradable traps to dissolve and allow release of the lobsters so they won't die in captivity.
2.Attach a colored marker to your boat and to the buoys so other lobstermen know which traps belong to you and so you don't lose your traps. You must check the lobster traps every day and release those which do not meet the size standards.
